There are two options for drinking water here. Well, I guess three if you want to drink it straight out of the tap, but that is not recommended. It is not like anywhere else where you have to consider whether it is safe to wake up in the middle of the night thirsty and grab a glass, or brush your teeth with it, or wash your dishes with it. But with that said, you take some small chances added together with a little extra effort and you are all set.
The first option is to get bottled water from the store or a delivery service. While this is simple and convenient, it costs money and often involves plastic bottles. The other option is to make potable water from what you have. The water out of the tap is not too bad, so says the health clinic doctor, but you still have to put in some time and effort before you drink it.
Here is how you do it. First, you have to bring it to a rolling boil and boil it for at least 10 minutes. Then you place it into this nifty filter or one similar. That is it, done. Tanzania, my friend, you are not as difficult as they say.
