Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens

After the Museum of Vietnamese History we strolled around the park. The entire park is pretty big, about three or four city blocks maybe and includes the  Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens. We paid to enter the zoo and had some fun walking around. It is one of the oldest zoos in the world; in fact it is the ranked as the 8th oldest, and unfortunately we could tell. It was in need of some much needed love and attention.

There were quite a few animals and the cages/pens were well spaced out. There were elephants, lions, giraffes and a few other animals. Luckily, we got to see the elephants while they were on their daily park walk. It was pretty cool, being so close to an elephant.

The cages were also very close and you could basically reach out and touch the animals.

Quite a nice day out. It was an amazing haven of nature in such a chaotic city. Looking around at all the greenery and peace, we forgot what was waiting for we outside the park walls.
